Amazon Policy Update for Mexico “Pet Food” Category

New Rules for Mexico Sellers

Recently, several Mexico sellers have reported receiving Amazon compliance policy request emails. The policy has been updated for the “pet food” category. Sellers must submit relevant compliance documents before 2 January, 2024; otherwise, the products will risk being removed from shelves.

Products You Can Sell

You must submit the following compliance documents

 

  1. An image clearly showing the entire product label, including ingredient listinstructions for use, and any product warnings. The label must also show the product name and the name and contact information of the brand owner or manufacturer.
  2. The label must be in Spanish.
  3. A clear photo of the SENASICA’s 8-digit authorization code.
  4. All sellers are prohibited from listing products that wrongly claim to be “Approved by SENASICA” or products that include the “SENASICA” logo in their associated images.
When submitting images, ensure the following:

 

  1. Images are clear and legible.
  2. Images clearly demonstrate that the product is the same as the product tested and listed on the product detail page.

Amazon Compliance Query Tool is Free to Use

Sellers can sell products in compliance with regulations and avoid tax risks.

“Compliance Reference” Query

During the product selection stage, you can use the Compliance Knowledge Portal (CKP) tool in the Amazon backend to help you understand the relevant compliance policies for launching new products and expanding product categories. This includes learning about compliance requirements for high-risk product types sold on Amazon, such as children’s toys, hair dryers, lamps, power banks, etc.

When you select a European country as your sales destination country, you will see the “European Regulations” button. When you click to enter, you will view various European regulatory requirements, including “Extended Producer Responsibility,” “Chemical Safety Compliance,” “Energy Label,” “Product Safety Information and Warnings,” etc. This will help you to understand complex information about local compliance.

This tool supports inquiries for 20 destination countries in total, including the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, the United States, Mexico, Japan, Australia, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Sweden, Poland, Belgium, etc., regarding relevant compliance policies.

👉 You can also access the “Compliance Reference” tool through the following path: log in to the Amazon Seller Platform, click “Performance > Account Status > Manage Your Compliance > Compliance Reference,” and search for products using three methods: “Keywords/Product Type/HS Code.”

Utilize the “Manage Your Compliance” Tool to Govern Products

During the operational process, you can use the “Manage Your Compliance” (MYC) tool to:

  • Assist you in uploading compliance documents.
  • Oversee on-shelf product compliance matters
  • Resolve any compliance issues promptly
  • And effortlessly addressing compliance requirements. In 2023, the “Manage Your Compliance (MYC)” tool will also introduce additional compliance policies such as “Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR)” and “EU Goods Safety Regulation (GP).”
