Fee freeze on referral and logistics fees

Amazon has announced that it will not increase its sales commission rate, and logistics fees on Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) in 2025.

Amazon have stated that in 2025, they wish to ‘focus on simplicity and stability, minimizing your operational burden and costs, while continuing to work together to delight customers and drive growth for your business’.  As a result, Amazon have also committed to not introducing any new fee types during 2025.

The decision will alleviate sellers’ concerns about rising costs impacting their own cost of business, which could directly impact their profit margins when trading on Amazon.

New policies for Fulfilled-By-Amazon placements

Amazon has announced new policies for inventory placements under the Fulfilled-by-Amazon (FBA) network.

Starting from 15 January 2025, the inbound placement service fee for large items stored in a single warehouse will decrease by an average of $0.58 per item.

Additionally, Amazon will waive the inbound service fees for new parents ASINs created between 1 December 2024 and 31 March 2025 that qualify for the FBA New Selection programme.  Up to 100 inbounded inventory units per parent ASIN will be eligible.

Incentives for new products and sellers

Amazon will continue offering incentives to attract sellers and encourage new product listings, including new seller incentives for sellers looking to start selling on Amazon.com.  The incentives include:

  • 10% rebate on branded sales (under the Amazon Brand Registry)
  • $200 credit for Amazon Vine (review tool)
  • $100 off shipments to the FBA network using an Amazon-partnered carrier
  • $200 credit towards fulfilment costs when using Amazon Global Logistics
  • 10% off fulfilment costs on the first 100 units shipped with Multi-Channel-Fulfilment
  • $50 credit for Sponsored Products and Sponsored Brands
  • $50 credit for Amazon Coupons

Additionally, the FBA New Selection Programme allows sellers to streamline their selling processes and make the new product launch process easier and more cost-effective by providing eligible product listings with discounts/rebates. Eligible product listings include:

  • Everyday essentials
  • Products with high consumer demand but with limited options on Amazon
  • Popular global brands

This is in addition to the changes to the inbound FBA placement fees as outlined under the previous section.  New sellers are also eligible for free storage and customer returns under the FBA New Selection programme.

Return to Normal Logistics Fees

During the period 15 October 2024 to 14 January 2025, Amazon has applied a holiday peak season FBA fulfilment fee rate.

From 15 January 2025, FBA fulfilment fees will revert to their off-peak seasonal rates, which are unchanged from the 2024 off-peak rates.

Optimisation of selling tools

Amazon will continue to invest in fee-related product tools, including:

  • Improving the fee calculator and fee preview tools
  • Optimising the FBA inbound shipment experience

Amazon have stated that ‘over the coming weeks and into 2025, we will continue to invest in our fee-related product experiences — including improving your fee calculators and fee preview tools, enhancing the FBA inbounding experience with features that estimate transportation costs and recommend the most cost-effective shipping options to Amazon, and more, so that you can more easily understand and optimize your business’
